Raven Johnson got one over Caitlin Clark on Sunday and can bask in victory, having gotten the last laugh against the Iowa star in Sunday’s national title game.
Clark went viral for disrespecting the South Carolina guard last year, waving her off and not bothering to mark her while she appeared as if she was going to shoot a three. So the 21-year-old went into the contest with a chip on her shoulder.

She put the clamps on Clark in defense and was instrumental in the Gamecocks’ win. Johnson told reporters she had studied Caitlin’s moves and was ready for the moment.

“Don’t let her score. I was ready for the moment,” she said. “And I take defense very hard, like I take it to heart. I studied her moves, and I was ready. I had confidence this year. I was telling myself last year’s not going to happen again.”
Johnson scored only three points in her 37 minutes on the floor, snatching five rebounds and making three assists. But her defense kept Clark from erupting for another huge output as she scored 30 points for Iowa in the 87-75 loss.

Raven Johnson FaceTimed Angel Reese After Sunday’s Win
Raven Johnson shared a FaceTime moment with Angel Reese after the game. Johnson and Reese now have something else in common as they both beat Caitlin Clark and the Hawkeyes to win a national championship.
She posted a photo to her Instagram story showing a screenshot of the call with the caption “My bookies said that get back a MF.”
Her next story was a repost from an ESPN graphic highlighting her defense on Clark that she captioned “seatbelt.”
