Taylor surprises everyone by hopping on Instagram to reveal that Ice Spice will be featured on a “Karma” remix. Ahem:

“I’m a massive fan of this brilliant artist and after getting to know her I can confirm: she is THE ONE to watch. So delighted to say that Karma Featuring the incredible @icespice will be out TOMORROW night at MIDNIGHT ET as a part of the new Midnights (Til Dawn Edition) deluxe album that you can pre-order now at store.taylorswift.com!”

Taylor and Ice Spice drop their “Karma” remix:

Taylor introduces the song on stage during the Eras Tour, saying, “At the very beginning of the year, when I was just starting to train for this tour, I got reached out to by Ice Spice. She reached out and said, ‘If you’d ever like to do a collab, I would love to.’ And what she didn’t know at the time is that when I was training for the tour, I was listening to pretty much exclusively just her music every single day. All day. So I said, ‘Absolutely, when can we do it?’ So we immediately went into the studio and I just not only fell in love with her, but just decided she’s the entire future.… I’ve been around so many artists and so many artists just starting out, but I’ve never been around an artist who’s so prepared and curious and focused on what she wants.”

Tay also tells Spotify the story of their collab, saying, “Collaborating with Ice Spice on ‘Karma’ was one of the most natural things. She reached out through her team, just kind of saying, ‘Hey, you know, Ice has been a big fan of Taylor’s since she was a little kid, we’d love to collaborate if that was ever something that came about.’ And I had been listening to her nonstop…like, getting ready for my tour, I was just listening to Ice Spice constantly. So I immediately got her number and said, ‘Hey, would you want to do your version of “Karma,” do you relate to this?’ And so she jumped in headfirst.”

Ice Spice talks about how her “Karma” collaboration came to be, telling Billboard, “I was home and my manager called me, and was like, ‘Oh, Taylor wants you on a record.’ And I’m like, ‘Taylor?’ I was having a really bad day also, I would like to say that. I was having a terrible day. I was crying all morning because I was just so mad at something. And then he called me with that news. And then I cried more, because it was good news. My life is a rollercoaster. How I started the day crying and I’m ending it crying, but for different reasons.”

She adds, “We went to the studio and [Taylor] is so humble and so nice. I kid you not. I pulled up to the studio and she outside waiting for me. So she’s great. She’s so funny. We text all the time. She is fucking hilarious. I’m not going to lie. She’s the funniest person ever.”
