EXCLUSIVE: Jon Bon Jovi reveals why he REFUSES to use his music to promote his Hampton Water rosé – after going into the wine-making business with son Jesse

Rocker Jon Bon Jovi has revealed why he refuses to use his iconic back catalog of music to promote his wine brand, Hampton Water.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia during a virtual Q&A in Sydney on Tuesday, the rocker, 60, was adamant he wanted to focus on respecting serious wine-making.

Responding to a clever question about why he didn’t name the rosé brand ‘bed of rosé’, a play on his iconic hit Bed of Roses, the singer struck a serious tone.

‘[We thought] if we were going to do this, we were going to make sure we did it right,’ the rocker said of starting the brand with son Jesse, 27.

‘There’s no family name on the label, there’s nothing to do with any song titles on the label because we needed to respect the profession, if we were going to do this we had to take it seriously,’ he added.

The Livin’ On A Prayer performer continued: ‘We worked very hard every day to garner the respect of the industry and to learn and that’s all we’re doing. So the last thing we are going to do is be a celebrity brand. It’s a family business.’

The star went on to say the family are authentic wine-makers building a serious wine brand – a profession they care for deeply.

‘We wouldn’t ask the public to take part in something that was less than stellar,’ he said. ‘I’ve never shown up to a show and pretended to be me. You know, you go to work (to create something authentic).’

The sweet and dry rosé is currently being stocked at Dan Murphys, retailing for $34.99 a bottle.

Jon Bon Jovi is a father of four with wife Dorothea Hurley.

The wine-making has been somewhat of a father, son bonding experience for the pair, who spoke to DailyMail.com about the venture in June 2019.

Jesse gushed over working with his famous father, saying: ‘It’s been an amazing experience working with my dad.’

When asked what he liked most about having his father as a co-worker, he said it was not easy to nail down.

'It’s hard to say what the best part is, but one of my favorite things is just being able to bounce ideas off of him,' Jesse said of his rocker father

‘It’s hard to say what the best part is, but one of my favorite things is just being able to bounce ideas off of him,’ added the former football player.

Jesse added: ‘He has a wealth of knowledge, and he is a great marketer. I love going to him with an idea and getting his feedback.’

He continued: ‘He intuitively just knows the right way to slightly tweak something to make it genius. I learn from him every single day.’

Jesse and Jon drummed up the idea for Hampton Water Rose together.

‘My dad and I were enjoying some rosé on the back porch out east,’ he began. ‘It was getting late, and he offered me one last glass of “pink juice” before calling it a night.

‘I told him, no one calls it “pink juice” anymore, you’re out in the Hamptons, it’s Hampton Water.

‘He looked at me said that would be a great name for a bottle. Right then and there Hampton Water was born and we’ve been working hard at it ever since.’

Finally, Jesse also commented that he never had ambitions to go into music like his rockstar father, offering a humorous response.

‘I am glad I pursued rosé instead of singing, but you are too, ha, trust me – I did not inherit the singing gene,’ joked Jesse.

Hampton Water is available at Dan Murphys outlets in Australia.
